| Hep B Vaccination and Testing Jun 7, 2004 Dear Dr Dieterich, If the vaccination series was taken after a low risk exposure, what testing would be required in the future and could I determine if I had aquired and cleared the disease or just developed antibodies to the vaccine series. I ask because I want to know if I had put anyone else at risk whilst I was taking the vaccines and awaiting testing. Many thanks. Worried in UK. |

Response from Dr. Dieterich
You can ask for the 3 hep B tests. The surface antigen which is evidence of present infection, the surface antibody which is evidence of immunity and the core antibody which is usually evidence of past infection if the surface antigen is negative. Good luck! DTD | |||||||||
