| Urgent! Precore mutant results.... May 4, 2004 I have Hep-B and after pestering my Dr about it he finaly agreed to do a HBV DNA PCR test, however he's not sure what we are looking for to signal us of a precore mutant situation. Is there a certain number we should be aware of (+ or -?)I am having the test done next week and would love to be able to take this info with me to the Dr so we can figure this out together...thank you! Response from Dr. Dieterich
Our new guidelines suggest that HBV DNA over 50,000 copies should be treated. If you have any liver disease then 10,000 copies is the suggestion. However lately I have been doing liver biopsies on most people who have virtually any copy level. If there is any fibrosis on liver biopsy, then treatment is indicated. Good luck! DTD | |||||||||
