Pegasys for hep b? Apr 26, 2004 Hi doctor, I saw an article about pegasys being used for hepatitis b. Is this something new? I thought it was supposed to be used to treat hep c. Thank you! Remi |

Response from Dr. Dieterich
Pegylated interferons are being studied for hepatitis B. Often they are used in combination with either lamivudine(Epivir) or adefovir(Hepsera). They do appear to work reasonably well and certainly have fewer side effects than the old daily dose or three times per week doses. I do think the pegs will have a role in the future of HBV treatment. DTD |
