Mar 17, 2004

i have just found out i am hiv pos with a viral load of 6000 and t cell count of under 100 i also have chronic hep B. with no symptoms but occ tiredness. my last blood work said neg for hep b what should i do next are some drugs not good for liver. also have just started on 3 drugs for the hiv- sustiva viread emtriva also bactrum daily and zythromax weekly

Response from Dr. Dieterich

Sounds like you are in good hands! Both emtriva(FTC) and viread(tenofovir) are very active against both HIV and HBV. You could not be on a better regimen. Whatever other HIV drugs you eventually switch to, you should stay on those two. Stay well, and good health to you! DTD

Can you contract Hep C from a straw????
Please help me understand Hep B results!!
