|Drinking alcohol after Hep C.
Feb 3, 2004
Hi, my girlfriend tested positive to hep C a few years ago and underwent treatment for a year and tested negative for the 12 months after the treatment. Having had the virus, can she now drink alcohol? She currently drinks about 3-4 bottles of wine a week and I am worried that because of the possible damage that occured to her liver, her current drinkng could cause her liver more damage.
Thanks you in advance.

She is cured! That is great news! However anyone especially a woman(women are more sensitive to alchohol damage) should not be drinking that much. What is usually considered safe is 1-2 glasses, not bottles of wine per day. If she cant stop, then you should encourage her to get to AA and you may want to consider Al Anon for partners of alchohol abusers. Good luck! DTD
