| HbeAg and HbsAg for six years and ALT is within normal limit. Jan 29, 2004 Dear Sir, My blood tests showed that I have HbsAg and HbeAg but my liver enzymes are within normal limits. I have been HbeAg positive for about 6 years now and taking any treatment as my physicians said I don't need it because my liver enzymes are in normal limit. He said there is no liver cell damage as my ALT is normal. I am fine apparently and had never got jaundice. Please let me know I should take treatment or not. Or if I need what kind of treatment should I take. Thank you very much. |

Response from Dr. Dieterich
Your liver enzymes really don't mean much in HBV. You should have e antigen and e antibody test and most importantly HBV DNA. If your DNA is more than 50,000 copies then you should be treated regardless of your liver enzymes. Good luck! DTD | |||||||||
