are you sure hcv cannot be passed this way
Oct 14, 2003

everywhere i read they say hcv cannot be passed in other body fluid other than blood.it is hard for me to believe that if a person with hcv had open sores in an on thier mouth, producing blood in their saliva that this possibility does not exsist,or am i missing somthing about the blood pathogen transferr. please shed some light. thankyou confused

Response from Dr. Dieterich

There are no absolutes in this field. Of course if mouth sores or gums are bleeding in both partners and there is really heavy kissing, then there may be some risk of infection. However in normal circumstances with normal dental hygiene, the risks are very small. DTD
