| AIDS/burkitts Aug 13, 2003 My uncle recently passed away from Burkitts. We recently found out that he had AIDS. At one point, doctors had said that Burkitts was genetic. My questions..could the reason that he had Burkitts be due to the fact that he had AIDS? Did the AIDS play a major role in the fast progression of the cancer? And is anyone in my family at risk of also having Burkitts? If so, is there any testing that can be done? |

Response from Dr. Dieterich
Not really a hepatitis question. However Burkitts is an AIDS related malignancy. The genetic issues are really minor compared to the HIV connection. You should all take good care of yourselves and do the proper preventative things like Chest X rays mammograms colonoscopies and pap smears and you should be fine. DTD | |||||||||
