2 Questions: HIV&Hepa
Mar 11, 2001

Two questions, really:

Wouldn't condom failure during intercourse (i.e., a tear right where the penile urethra is) pose the same risk as unprotected intercourse?

Hepa B can also be sexually transmitted: how long does it take before detectable antibodies for Hepa B are produced by an infected person?

Response from Dr. Rodriguez-Torres

The incubation period for HBV can be between six weeks to six months.Your best bet is to have an hepatitis B profile two months after exposure. You may need to check again after six months for HBs antibodies that would indicate immunity.
