|Am I a Hep B carrier
Apr 7, 2003
I had the gamma globlin shot when I was 1 year old because my older sister had Hep A. This was in 1966 where the shot contained live viruses from several Hep patients, before it was catergorized into different types. As long as I can remember I have shown Hep B positive but now I am questioning this because my husband and son were never immunized and never caught the disease. My sisters which all had the gamma globlin also test positive but there doctors said they are not carriers. My blood test show HBsAg positive, HBc total other, HBsAb other, HBVeAg negative, HBeAb reactive

It sounds like you are probably what is called an asymptomatic carrier. You have probably cleared the virus and are not infectious. However you should be monitored yearly by your MD for your hepatitis status. Stay well! DTD
