|transmission of hepatitis
Jan 12, 2003
My girlfriends parents are having a family member with hepatitis move in, what precautions should they take so they do not catch it? Is it an airborne pathogen?
Response from Dr. Dieterich
Hepatitis is not spread through the air. Hepatitis B is mostly a sexully transmitted disease but can be transmitted through blood exposure. Hepatitis C is almost completely a blood to blood transmitted virus. There is very little sexual transmission except among gay men where it is much more commmon. Tell them not to share razors and tootbrushes and they should be fine. DTD
