|Family Members w/ Hep C
Dec 22, 2002
Several relatives with Hep C will be coming to a family gathering. We will have an open buffet with all finger foods. The child often sneezes and drools on others. He drinks out of everyone's cups. I am concerned the mother of the child does not always wash her hands after changing diapers. Being that there will be such a close proximity with these relatives and the chance for some kind of body fluid exchange, what kind of risk is the rest of the family up against? Thanks.

There is no real risk of transmission of Hep C by food. It really has to be transmitted by blood to blood contact. While what you describe is not polite it does not really increase hep C risk. Good luck! DTD
