Family Members w/ Hep C Dec 22, 2002 Several relatives with Hep C will be coming to a family gathering. We will have an open buffet with all finger foods. The child often sneezes and drools on others. He drinks out of everyone's cups. I am concerned the mother of the child does not always wash her hands after changing diapers. Being that there will be such a close proximity with these relatives and the chance for some kind of body fluid exchange, what kind of risk is the rest of the family up against? Thanks. |

 There is no real risk of transmission of Hep C by food. It really has to be transmitted by blood to blood contact. While what you describe is not polite it does not really increase hep C risk. Good luck! DTD | ||||||||
