genotype 3b and length of treatment
Oct 6, 2002

I'h hep c positive with 3rd stage cirrhosis. I am supposedly a 3b..? Although my doctor has told me of three different genotypes I have I've been on pegintron and riavirin for nearly 4 months. Can you please tell me how long treatment may need to continue??? 6 months I can handle but a year ....well suicide would be better I think. Please don't tell me ask my doctor PLEASE! Thank You

Response from Dr. Fried

For genotype 2 and 3 patients, six months is the generally recommended course (although there are no data yet available for Peg-Intron in this regard). AND you SHOULD discuss this with your doctor so you both can agree on the best treatment plan for yourself.

Active Hep C.
