|HEP B Core AB Reactive?
Sep 20, 2002
I picked up my medical records in order to switch doctors when I noticed a lab report from 2001 detailing a Nepatitis Panel Chronic.
The results were as follows:
HEP A AB Total Negative HEP B Surf AG Negative HEP B Surf AB Negative HEP B Core AB REP. REACTIVE (the reference said negative) HEP B Core IGM Negative NEP C AB Negative
Hep A Comment: No Lab. evidence of recent or remote HEP A
HEP B Probable remote Hepatitus B. Suggest repeat 3 months
HEP C No current serologice evidence.
Viral Sero ABY SEP RPT RPR Qual Nonreactive
The suggestion was for me to repeat the labs in three months. My doctor never notified me of these results. What do they mean? I have been married for seven years and we have been faithful.

The isolated HBcore antibody may indicate a natural HBV infection in the distant past. Because HBs antigen is negative, you do not currently have hepatitis B. HBcore antibody could also be a false positive result and would require additional tests to sort this out.
Treatment of Acute infection.
