| chronic HBV clearance stats Aug 8, 2002 Doctor, Are there statistics you are aware of regarding chronic HBV clearance in HIV pos? Is it possible? Or is it more an issue of just trying to do damage control? |

Response from Dr. Dieterich
HIV positive people are less likely to clear HBV during the acute infection and of course less likely to clear during chronic treatment and more likely to develop drug resistant HBV. However treatment with the newer agents like adefovir and tenofovir are very successful in the lamivudine resistant HBV. Good luck! DTD | |||||||||
