Response from Dr. Fried
Liver biopsy slides are kept by the hospital for many years, so the pathologists can read them again in relationship to current scoring systems. HCV can progress over time and you might discuss with your MD repeating the liver biopsy after 9 years to compare to the earlier one. If significant progression has occurred, treatment would be a good idea, assuming you are otherwise a good candidate for therapy. These issues should be discussed with your physician. | |||||||||
