Hep B shots last year, Titer say's not immune??
Jul 22, 2002

I had the Hep B vaccinations last year. I went for a titer this year and I was informed I'm not immune? What would cause that?

Response from Dr. Fried

Even though the HBV vaccine is very effective in providing immunity to most vaccinated patients, some (~5% or less)do not develop immunity. Check to see whether you were previously exposed to hepatitis B (HBsAg and HBcAb). If these are negative, try another series of the vaccine and re-check your anti-HBs 3-4 weeks after the last injection.
