hepatitis A and drug use
Jul 5, 2002

Dr: I am recovering from hepatitis A my question is does the drug ectasy affect the liver in any way and my interfere with my recovery? what about marijuana? how long should i wait so i can drink alcohol again?

Response from Dr. Dieterich

Let's take the last one first. Most physicians recommend waiting at least 6 months before consuming alchohol again after your liver tests are all normal again. Under no circumstances would I recommend ectasy. Marijuana is generally not harmful to the liver but can be harmful to the lungs. The fewer drugs you consume, the happier your liver is. Stay healthy!
