Dr Dieterich,

I am a former patient of your clinic, actually I saw Karen. I have chronic hep b (4 years)and am hiv negative. Have you heard good things about Viread? I am on combo treatment of Viread and Epivir. The docs wanted to stay away from Interferon for now due to a history of depression. I am really started to get frustrated by docs. I have been told 3 different times that I have cleared the virus, only to find out later there was some oversight. Also, I am at Northwestern. Do you think its a good place to get treatment, or is there someone else here in Chicago you know of.

Response from Dr. Dieterich

Viread is a very good drug for hepatitis B. Northwestern is a very good place for liver disease. You are in good hands! Sorry about your frustration. DTD
