Dear Doctor Fried, My test result came back as; Hepatitis Be Antibody -Reactive. Hepatitis Be Antigen- Non-reactive Hepatitis Bs Antigen- Reactive Hepatitis Bs Antibody- Non-reactive. Please help me understanding this status. Thanks, TT

The positive HBs antigen indicates that you carry the hepatitis B virus. However, the HBeAg ( a marker of activity) is negative, suggesting that you are what is called the inactive HBsAg carrier. This is associated with a better prognosis and less likelihood of transmission. It still needs periodic monitoring. Additional information is required to be sure, liver enzymes, HBV DNA, and delta antibody. Discuss these results with your healthcare professional.
