Dr.Fried since you have stated your opinions on how unsafe and unreputable tattooing is in this forum i was wondering in the last 15 years how many cases of hepatitus c,hep,b or h.i.v have been documented as transmitted thru tattoo in this time peroid? because other than one very public accusation i have found absolutley none.

I have said before that tattoos are not one of the main recognized risk factors for HCV infection. However, there a number of epidemiological studies that have been published that suggests tattoos are associated with HCV infection. It clearly requires additional study but no one would argue that the risk is zero. Until a definitive answer is found, it is logical to be cautious. One must weigh the benefits of body art with the potential risk, even though there is some uncertainty as to how great that risk might be.
