|pcr at end of treatment
Mar 12, 2002
i have genotype 2b and have been on the peg combo for 17 weeks. I was undetectable at 12 weeks. My dr is not going to take my final pcr until i finish treatment,at 24 weeks. It could be 2 weeks before I get the results and than maybe anotheer 2 weeks to get my mail order prescription. would if it comes back detecatable? My Dr says not to worry it won't. Think positive. I just don't want to start all over again and miss a couuple doses if i need to stay on treatment. What azre my chances of staying undetectable? And if not will a month off treatment cause a problem?Dot

Genotype 2 is very favorable for treatment response. I agree with your physician that stopping therapy at 24 weeks is reasonable. Based upon data from standard interferon and ribavirin, your chances of sustained virological response (i.e."cure") are very good and the chances of relapse after stopping therapy are very small.
