 Patients who are treated successfully are considered to have a "sustained virological response" (doctorspeak), which is now known to be the same as "cure" (more or less). So it is possible to get rid of hepatitis C: The HCV RNA in your blood is not detected at least 6 months AFTER stopping therapy. However, the antibody test (anti-HCV) will stay positive indefinitely, even though the disease is gone. | ||||||||
