if a person is HIV positive and does it with another person how long will it take that person to come down with the aids disease?
| Response from Dr. Dieterich
Some people will manifest the acute retroviral syndrome in 10 days to 2 weeks, others will not be symptomatic at all and find that they are positive months later. If you have an exposure, you should consider prophylaxis with HIV meds. If it is after 72 hours you should get viral load testing done at about 2 4 and 6 weeks after exposure. Antibody testing will be positive beginning at around 2 months and may go out to 6 months. Get tested! Get treated! Good luck! DTD
