When a person who cotntracts HCV is infective to others?

Dear doctor!
Could you please tell me how long does it take for person to be infective to others with HCV? So if a person contracts HCV today when the virus is in blood and when this person is infective to others? Also could you please tell me how long does it take for qualitative PCR-tests to become positive after transmission of HCV?

Response from Dr. McGovern
A person can infect another person with HCV (eg, through shared needles or traumatic sex) as soon as they have the virus in their bloodstream. Virus occurs in the blood before the elevation of liver function tests. After exposure, viremia could occur within about 2 to 6 weeks - on average. However, earlier or later onset has been noted.
