Help my 3 years old son! Great appreciated it!
Apr 6, 2008
I am so upset for 3 years old son's hepatitis B test result last week:
Antibody to Hep B Core IGM - Negative
HEP B "E" Antibody -Positive
HEP B "E" Antigen -Negative
Antibody to HEP B Surface Antigen - Negative
HEP B Surface Antigen -Positive
My husband and myself both have HEP B and HBV DNA is very high. We had a 5 years old girl who has HEP B antibodies. Both my daughter and my son went through all neccessary vaccine after they were born in Canada. I didn't expect such results for my son and my heart broken after I knew the results.
My questions are: what conclusion according the results? Is it 100%certain that my son will be a HEP carrier? What else tests we should do for him( I am thinking HBV DNA and Antibody to HEP B Core IGG). Thank you so much for your answers.

Response from Dr. McGovern

Yes I agree that you should get a HBV DNA test. The positive e antibody is very reassuring that perhaps he is simply a carrier.
Best regards.
