| Bruising Sep 25, 2000 My partner is constantly bruising. Large areas on his legs and arms that last for about two weeks and then dissipate. Some of them are brownish/red in color and are appearing on his upper thighs. He also has a cluster of five or so red bumps on his on his back near his shoulder. The are puss filled and very red. I am very concerned. He does not know his HIV status. Along with the bruising, he suffers from extreme fatigue, diarrhea and bleeding from the rectum. Getting him to the Dr. is not an easy tasks as he is highly afraid. Thoughts? |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi, Easy bruisability, red puss filled bumps, extreme fatigue, diarrhea, and blood from the rectum??? My thoughts are simple. Your partner needs to be seen by a doctor. The sooner the better. Individually or collectively these conditions can either be quite minor and easily remedied or they could be the harbinger of a more serious underlying problem. Getting him to the doctor may not be easy but it's definitely warranted. Don't let him procrastinate any longer. RJF |
