A knowledgeable friend of mine said Androgel or Testim are use to ingrease enery in HIV+ men. They are use without regard to the testesterone levels. Is this true? can Androgel be perscribed for HIV fatigue? |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi. Nope! Testosterone replacement therapy should only be used to treat hypogonadism (low free serum testosterone levels). Talk to your HIV specialist about your fatigue and decreased libido. He'll perform the appropriate evaluation and hopefully get your energy batteries recharged very soon. I'd also recommend you read through the information in the archives of this forum related to the causes and treatment of HIV-associated fatigue. Good luck. Dr. Bob |
