hiv/aids at work
May 27, 2011

I have hiv/aids with a cd count of 126.I'm on a leave from work at this time.My job is physical with long hours also.I return back to work in 3 weeks. What questions should I ask my doctor before I return to work?I still feel fatigued.

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi.

You should have a discussion with your HIV specialist about your readiness to resume your duties at work. If you are still fatigued, you may not be able to function optimally or even adequately at a physically demanding job with long hours. Your HIV specialist may consider putting you on limited work restrictions, either limited hours or limited physical activity or both. This can be done on a trial basis to see how you cope. Be sure to discuss your fatigue issue with your doctor. You can read a great deal about HIV/AIDS-associated fatigue in the archives of the Fatigue and Anemia expert forum. Have a look!

Good luck.

Dr. Bob
