|Extreme fatigue and hiv progression.
Oct 25, 2010
I have been worried since December 2008 that I have hiv. I have tested negative five times in the past 18 months but still experience many symptoms of hiv. I am extremley worried, its all I think about! I have read many posts that say at this point I would have tested positive but since I continue to have symptoms I dont know what to think. If I contracted hep c or something else at the same time would that delays a positive result? I have so many questions I dont know where to begin. Im either psychosomatic or sick with multiple infections and cant produce antibodies. Either way I need help and dont know where else to go.
Response from Dr. Frascino
You characterized your true problem well when you wrote: "I am extremely worried, it's all I think about!" Your problem is anxiety and irrational fear. Your five negative tests out to 18 months are definitive, conclusive and WOO-HOO-able, even if you had contracted hepatitis C or something else, which is extremely unlikely)!
I strongly suggest you seek psychotherapy (counseling) and treatment for your anxiety and irrational fears. Please note fatigue is frequently associated with psychological problems, such as depression and anxiety.
Good luck. Remember, HIV is not your problem. No way. No how. No additional HIV-related tests are warranted.
hiv associated fatigue or sth else
