Can I diagnose your inability to fall asleep? Sure. You've got insomnia. Next question!
OK, I'll bet you knew that already and were really more interested in what's causing your insomnia, right? Well, there are lots of common causes, such as anxiety, depression and certain drugs (caffeine, amphetamines, etc.). In addition, there are loads of less common causes, including pain, restless leg syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, sleep bruxism, reflux, movement disorders, etc. I suggest you discuss this problem with your HIV specialist. He should be able to help sort out the cause and/or provide you with a mild sleep aid if needed.
