Androgel 1%
Jan 2, 2006

doc said my triglycerides were very low & recently put me on this..what does this have to do with hormone treatment and triglycerides ??????

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi,

AndroGel is a topical testosterone-replacement therapy. It is used for folks with hypogonadism (low testosterone). Androgenic steroids, including testosterone, can have a secondary effect on blood lipid levels, including triglycerides. I'd suggest you have a talk with your doctor so he can clear up whatever questions you have about your diagnosis and recommended therapy. AndroGel is not a treatment for triglyceride problems. Besides, low triglyceride levels are healthy and what we strive for!

Good luck.

Dr. Bob
