Comment on Long Term Surviving
Dec 9, 2005

Just read Len's comment on Jason's concerns and wanted to add that I too am a 20 year survivor. Like Len, I too was told to expect death soon after diagnosis. I'm still healthy, aside from some age related stuff I didn't expect to have to deal with. I expect there are more of us out there than we'd expect. It's been a long road since 1985 but the newly diagnosed have so much more available than we did back in the dark ages. My hint for long term success: defiance (don't give up), skepticism (follow your own instincts) and determination (live your life the way you want - almost all things are possible.

Best Wishes to all. Mark

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hello Mark,

Yes, it does appear the long-term survivor club membership ranks are growing and are full of defiant, determined skeptics who are also really, really nice folks!

Stay well. Thanks for sharing your story!
