WHAT COULD IT MEAN IF AFTER TESTING, YOU HAVE LOW B-12, WHITE BLOOD CELLS IN YOUR STOOL,AND THE DOCTOR SAYS HE'S LOOKING FOR ANEMIC
Response from Dr. Frascino
Anemia means you have a low red blood cell count or a low hemoglobin level. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. One of the causes of anemia is low vitamin B12.
White blood cells in the stool is an entirely different problem. It can mean inflammation or infection somewhere in your gastrointestinal track.
Talk to your doctor about your lab tests, and ask him specifically to explain what he's searching for. If you don't understand what he says, tell him you don't understand, and don't leave the office until you do!
