Ask the Experts about Fatigue and Anemia
ANDROGEL
Jan 18, 2008
DEAR,DOC I WANT TO KNOW IF ANDROGEL WILL HELP WITH RECOVERY AND FATIGUE THANK,YOU
Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello,
That depends entirely on whether you need testosterone replacement therapy. If your free testosterone is low for your age and there are no contraindications for using testosterone, replacement therapy with AndroGel or other similar agents may well be beneficial. Talk to your HIV specialist regarding your options. If HIV-associated fatigue is your problem, a thorough evaluation is warranted. Peruse the archives of this forum to learn more about the common and not-so-common underlying causes of HIV-associated fatigue.
Good luck.
Dr. Bob
