| Facial Wasting Coverage Mar 30, 2009 What route do you suggest that I take to combat my facial wasting, which is more evident now. I currently have a PPO United Health insurace. If my insurance company does not cover this procedure, please advise me as to where I can remedy this problem Thank you so much. |

Hello, and thanks for posting. Most insurance companies do not cover treatment for HIV facial lipoatrophy at this time. We need affected individuals to demand coverage for this condition since it clearly is a medication-related side effect and should be included as an integral part of health care. In the meanwhile, there are patient assistance programs for both Radiesse and Sculptra. These programs provide for discounted (or free) product to treat facial lipoatrophy. However, there is a fee for each injection, and these charges can certainly add up. I would like to see more providers offering a sliding scale fee schedule, but instead a typical charge is around 500 dollars per injection visit. Good luck! | |||||||||
