Hi Dr. Pierone,
I read with much interest about getting a permanent injection treatment product called BioAlcamid up in Vancouver, Canada as the product is not currently approved by FDA in the U.S. However, from what I can gather from users reviews, reported results are quite mixed and frankly a bit outdated too. I have tried the new-fill or Scuptra treatment in the past but only with little success in the initial stages. I am wondering whether you may have any insights and shed some light on its risks vs. benefits or point me to the right direction so I can do some more research on the treatment before I proceed. Hello and thanks for posting.
I have no experience with this agent, but have been following the story for several years. There are some promising data and it has been approved for use in Canada, so the regulatory agency must have been convinced of its value. I am traveling to Canada in about 2 weeks and my main goal is to interview some of the researchers involved in the bio-alcamid trial which was published in AIDS last year at this link link.
Stay tuned and early May I will provide an update.
