Transmission
Feb 26, 2007

What are the chances/probabilites of contracting HIV through unprotected sex with infected female? Is it possible to still be HIV negative after unprotected sex with infected partner?

Response from Dr. Remien

Unprotected sex with a positive partner carries risk for transmission. Yes, it is possible to be uninfected after sex with a positive partner, but the chances of transmission will increase with each unprotected act. Please speak with a counselor about such issues. You can also read more on the transmission risk forum on this website.
