Seroconversion & raised ALT & GGT Feb 19, 2007 Hi, I am HIV- and my wife is HIV+. I have regular tests & we always practice safe sex. Recently after a routine blood test at my GP they have found my liver enzymes to be raised-specifically ALT & GGT. I last tested -ve around 3 months ago. We have had no 'unsafe' sex incidents since. My GP is unaware that I'm in a mixed HIV status marriage. I was wondering if these raised enzymes indicated seroconverion? Many thanks Martin |

 I am not a physician and thus not qualified to fully answer your question. But I do know that liver enzymes can be elevated for a wider variety of reasons, many having nothing to do with HIV. You need to discuss your concerns with a physician. I wonder why it is that you cannot be honest with your physician. This is not helpful to all involved. I strongly encourage you to disclose this information to your doctor or find a different doctor that you can be honest with. |
