My pos partner didn't disclose Feb 12, 2005 I was shocked to find out my partner of 5 years has been positive since the late 80's and didn't tell me. I found out by accident[full-blown AIDS]. The AIDS center said that it was common especially people diagnosed early on in the pandemic. Yet, his ex-wife is negative, the child that was born(8 now)is negative, and so far I am being tested negative, along with co-infection of hepatitus b and c. How common is this? |

 I can't give you any real numbers on this. However, it is not uncommon for people to remain uninfected even when there has been ongoing exposure to HIV. While the virus can be transmitted in a single high-risk exposure, so many factors can influence whether transmission takes place in the context of exposure.
