 As with adults there are HIV infected children who were infected at birth but remain asymptomatic for more than ten years; in adults these long-term nonprogressors represent 3-5% of those infected; we do not know the percentage of infants infected at birth who are nonprogressors; it is likely that the percentages are equal to or less than the percentages observed in adults.JLS.
