|What about us?

I am in the process of "waiting" for the window period to elapse. I have 5 more weeks to go before I get to 12 weeks; needless to say, I read all the forums daily. Anyway, I am just really frustrated that we "waiters" have to wait this 12 weeks when it sounds like there is something out there that would tell us earlier. The NAT testing you and others have talked about...what is it about and why can't we use it for diagnosis? Would it not be accurate?
Response from Dr. Jackson
NAT testing for HIV RNA is not licensed for the diagnosis of HIV infection, but the test does typically become positive 10 days before HIV antibody is detected in a recently infected person. I suggest you speak with your physician if you want to be tested for HIV RNA.
I am thinking of marrying a HIV+ woman
