Why did I bleed while having sex, if I have already have had sex plenty of times??
Response from Dr. Dezube
As you can imagine, people define sex in so many different ways. Are we talking about anal sex, vaginal, oral sex here, or something else? Often bood in the semen represents nothing more than a tiny blood vessel that burst. Blood may signify a prostate ailment. Hemorrhoids, fissures, inflammation, and tumors can all cause anal/rectal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding can also be caused by inflammation, broken blood vessels, tumors and so on. Obviously a woman's menstruation may lead to blood at the time of sex. Also people may bleed more if they are taking blood thinners or aspirin-like agents. Blood at the time of sex is a risk factor for the spread of HIV infection. The bottom line is that if your bleeding persists, you should be evaluated by a health professional.
