| Anal warts; website; internal aldara? Mar 10, 2001 Hi Dr. Dezube, Thanks for some great advice in the past! I have a new question which I know is only indirectly cancer related, but I'll try anyway; I found a websitein which states that the product can eliminate over 95 of all HPV cases! The website looks pretty professional; it must be bogus??? Best regards, Peter "can't wait for Aldara to become available for internal use by health care provider application". |

Response from Dr. Dezube
I obviously in my position can't condone or condemn a specific website. What I will say in a more generic message is that the Web is filled with many unproven (and potentially toxic) therapies. I would stick to what is FDA-approved and what is available through clinical trials. All clinical trials have to be approved by an ethics board. This offers at least some protection to research subjects. You bring up the use of internal Aldara. Although it is NOT FDA-approved for internal use, the drug is quite effective in treating HPV related warts. Many clinicians have recommended its use internally on a case by case basis. I can't judge whether this would be appropriate in your case. |
