What exactly is thrush?
Dec 29, 2002

What is thrush? what does it look like.

Response from Dr. Dezube

Thrush is another term for a type of yeast or fungus infection. When it occurs in the mouth, it can also be referred to as "oral moniliasis", "oral candidiasis", as well as a few other expressions. Although it is quite common in the setting of HIV infection (particularly advanced HIV infection) and cancer, many patients frequently get thrush without having either of these conditions. People who take antibiotics are very prone to thrush. Also people who take steroids are very prone to thrush; even steroids in the form of asthma inhalers can cause thrush. Thrush appears most often as white patches in the oral cavity. Thrush is very easy to treat. Many anti-thrush products are on the market.

Hemorrhoids and Anal Pap Smears; do they interfere which each other? If I have a normal Pap smear, am I HPV-free?
What about those collarbone glands?
