A bit confused?!
Mar 2, 2001

Can azt be used for JUST as a treatment in the healing of a skin cancer without being hiv+? I am a C.H.H.A. and i was told that the patient i attend to is not hiv+ and is using azt as part of her treatment. I would appreciate if you could please give me an answer.Thanking you in advance.I do hope you understand what i am trying to ask? In other words, must you be hiv+ to be using azt?

Response from Dr. Dezube

I am not aware of any indication for AZT other than for use in HIV-infected patients. In particular, I am not aware of its use in skin cancer. I imagine that it is possible, but certainly not very likely. Hope this answers your question.
