use of testosterone
Mar 2, 2001

I was recently diagnosed as having Lymphoma and have been using testosterone gel. This has kept my test.level in the high-normal range. I noticed in the packet information that testosterone shouldn't be used with certain types of cancers. Should I discontinue the testosterone or cut back on the levels? Thanks for your response

Response from Dr. Dezube

Testosterone gel is quite safe in the setting of lymphoma. Do not hesitate to use the gel as it produces real benefits (increases in lean body mass, energy, and sex drive) and does NOT stimulate lymphoma cells. The warning really applies to prostate cancer. Patients who have prostate cancer should not be using this gel. Good luck with your lymphoma treatments!
