swollen glands Mar 2, 2001 how common are swollen glands in hiv disease? what i really mean is are they always a sure thing in infected patients or do some NEVER get them? thank you. |

 Swollen glands (also known as lymph nodes) are very common in HIV disease. Most HIV-infected patients will get them at some time during the course of their illness. Often the glands are largest early on in the disease. However, some HIV patients NEVER get them; I have several such patients in my practice. It is not necessarily a good or a bad sign if you get them. (I should also add that sometimes these glands can become quite huge; again this isn't necessarily a good or bad sign) |
