KS and time since infection
Sep 14, 2002

Is it possible that 2 years since confirmed transmission date that one would be seeing Kaposi's Sarcoma? Or does it only show up after 5 or so years?

Response from Dr. Dezube

KS can indeed show up 2 years since confirmed transmission. In fact, KS can show up even earlier. Although many complications of AIDS (e.g., PCP, MAC) occur only after a patient has been infected for a long time, KS can occur much earlier in the course of HIV infection.
