KS in stomach or intestines? Lots of gas.
May 26, 2003

Hello Doc, You guyz are doing great job. keep it up. Is it possible that KS can affect intestines or digestive system? Recently I am hearing a lot of sounds inside stomach like burping or gargling noise (no diarrhea though). It sounds funny but fact is I am farting a lot too. Is this a sign that KS has been infected in my digestive system??

I am not gay and I have not tested for HIV yet but I am worried. Thanking you in advance.

Worried Man.

Response from Dr. Dezube

I wouldn't rush to give you a diagnosis of KS. Although KS can indeed involve the stomach and the intestines, it is unusual to have KS unless you have it also on your skin. First you need to find out if your are HIV positive. If you are HIV negative, then KS would be quite unusual. There are many causes of excessive intestinal gas (To use your words-- farting a lot). The most common cause is lactose intolerance-- not having the enzyme to break down milk products. You should be in touch with your health care provider, who may send you to a gastroenterologist, a specialist in the bowels.
